Tattoos And Pregnancy Before And After

Travel Companion

Un de ceux-ci nous amène sur the edge of a forest lake in the morning when the wind is not up yet. The man looks at the spectacle before him. The reflection of sun on water, the smell of pine trees, small insects flying over the lake and jump on a small ephemeral water almost stagnant. The man can not appreciate all this he derives a great moment of relaxation. Transposons us from the ephemeral side of now. He jumped on the lake in search of food. He must hurry because the wind is about to rise and will reach the earth. Suddenly, without even react, he plunges over an insect and swallows of a sudden. Is death. It may be cruel, this same nature.

I do a lot of parallels between this book and what I saw here in my corner of Burkina Faso. In newspapers, we read about the floods, famine, disease, corruption and poverty ... On the other hand, we hear the romantic, exotic or even always present in Africa. His music is authentic we dreamed, his energy crossing the continent. In all the movies you can always see a red sunset or the earth dozens of children, crying and laughing, chasing a car .... Africa is beautiful and cruel ...

Hosting Burkina Faso is exemplary. Welcomed into a family in the village, you can in the morning, get some bread and coffee they have paid for you ... For lunch, you will be entitled to the best piece of meat and cold water. All these little touches will move you. You did not by cons realized that this family has not been sent all his children to school, lack of money ... So much generosity not pay tuition fees and the time that children must take to help with household chores.

In a family, flying is prohibited. Even a white little risk of being robbed. Even with so little means, they will not try to take you anything. What you can not know by cons is that the daughters of the family may have all been excised. Nobody can see if a girl is circumcised. At the event, said to be ill, she has malaria (malaria). Then, life goes on, it becomes like any other. This is not written in his forehead, the small, it is excised ... How can a family she be beautiful and cruel in this way (from our point of view at least)? I

also conversations that show the wisdom of these people about their situation. This wisdom has no equal and really impresses me. A few minutes later, others leave me a bad aftertaste by comments full of prejudice and ignorance ... I am constantly confronted with this dualism, this opposition. However, I am very proud to see these differences and not to live in a glass house, as many foreigners do. Some see the bright side, other than bad ... but to learn and progress, we must be able to live in this nature is both beautiful and cruel.

Gingerbread Cookie Dough How Long Does It Keep?

A history of balance or understanding what P / PC means .... And the link with the Management Council.

We often talk about efficiency. What is it really? Be explained on the basis of a paradigm that can be called 'balance P / PC' principle too often overlooked. First comes a story explaining this principle.

Let me tell you a little story that illustrates the nature of my work. This is Aesop's fable about the goose and golden eggs.

This fable is the story of a poor farmer who one day discovered in the nest of one of these magnificent birds golden egg. At first he believed in a hoax. By manipulating the egg, he begins to think and decide to bring him home for further study.

The egg is pure gold! The farmer can not believe this chance! It becomes even more amazed the next day when he sees the experiment is repeated. Day after day he wakes up in a hurry to find more golden eggs in the nest the hen in question. He quickly became very rich.

But with wealth came as greed and impatience. Unable to wait for the next day to have another golden egg, he decides to kill the goose, so to get them all at a time. But when he opened the goose, he finds it empty. There are no golden eggs. And now there is no way to be none. The farmer has destroyed the goose that produced them.

I suggest that this tale is found in natural law, a principle - the basic definition of efficiency. Most people see effectiveness from the perspective of the golden eggs: the more you produce, the more you do, the more effective you are.

But history shows that the effectiveness depends on two things: what is produced (the golden eggs) and the product (a chicken).

If you adopt a mode of life that focuses on the eggs but neglects the goose that produces them, you will find yourself sooner or later without the hen to produce. On the other hand, if you only take care of the pool without an objective look at the golden eggs, you shall soon have nothing to feed you, or the hen!

The effectiveness depends on a balance, one might call "equilibrium P / CP. P stands for Productivity, the desired results, the golden eggs. Ability to Produce PC means, ability or thing that produces the golden eggs.

And the link with the Management Council ...

board of management has evolved gradually over the years. This year we have about 450 members. Management consultants are expected to visit the members 2 times a month for monitoring and advisory support, do the math, analysis, commentary by management, the return of results and the anticipation of the campaign to follow. Add to that the sensitization to the Board of Management and preparation for end-of-campaign. Let us not forget also that most sites have members in culture and gardening in winter cropping.

It would be easy to justify an approach to development centered on the acquisition equipment, technical advice. Give input to those who produce. Show some production techniques, hoping that people adopt them. We want the golden eggs ...

The board of management is an approach that bridges the gap between the golden eggs and the hen products. By giving people the tools enabling them to reflect on their choices and understand their income, expenditures, profits, we invest in the capacity to produce. Being a decision support by letting them make choices based on real results of their operations, we give them the means to produce more golden eggs.

Des adhérents also pass the baton to their child to complete the book. We invested in the pool, in the capacity to produce ...

This fable about the goose and golden eggs allow me to have perspective on my work, but I think a lot will affect my personal life, family and professional future.

Is personally, I invest enough time in my PC?
Are my relationships are based on a balanced P / CP?
How I want my future boss respects this balance P / CP in the work he ask me?

Lots of questions, which require even more thinking! But that's good, no!?

Watch Harold And Kumar Bottomless Party

Culture Shock!

Most travelers know the theory of culture shock.

When you arrive in a country is "high". You discover and you are amazed by everything you see. You have a thirst for discoveries all meetings are a unique learning opportunity.

After several weeks, when the newspaper moved, you notice things that displease you. You compare what is right here, pain here, with what you are accustomed to live in your country. Aspects you thought the true longer. You are confronted with the hard reality of things. You miss your family and you think to leave.

The third step is to back up the hill, put things in perspective and to question rather than judge. Finally, the fourth step, you live at home in your host community ...

A corn on the cob with that! Remove the strawberry liqueur and orange crush and we celebrate it! There are more possible surprise!

was the story of my two cultural shocks of the week.

PS. Incidentally, I was also shaken when I saw that there was also some strawberry liqueur here. Less popular but still, enjoyed by many. I tasted the next week without fail!

Heating Problems In A 2005 Hyundai Elantra

seeds, good soil, daily watering ... What takes more to grow vegetables?

That's what I thought, six months ago, when I arrived in the agro-economic cell of my NGO (Non Governmental Organization). The cell tracks more than 400 producers in their cereal and vegetable production across the board of management at the farm. This council is a decision aid, a tool for analyzing the profitability of the producer himself, and decision making to improve the situation of its operations.

September advisors accompany each producer so that they can better understand the costs, revenues and technical aspects their production.

I could quickly understand that gardening requires money to invest, knowledge and hard work! First, it requires access to a water point. Some have one or two wells, the other a basin of water, while groups have benefited from major projects for the construction of dam retaining rainwater.

Subsequently, the years are needed before building up the knowledge needed for growing quality plants at good yields. The gardeners must find the water supply and the optimal amount of fertilizer relation to soil type in their region. They need to find quality seeds, allowing good seedling emergence. They must master the preparation of nurseries and treatment for illness. They have all year to make compost need organic fertilizer. Only the best organized are irrigated with a pump, most go to watering by sprinklers, over 500m2! The north of Burkina Faso produced many potatoes and onion. It also includes cabbage, tomato, eggplant, carrots, garlic, pepper.

(a producer uses for its sprinklers Percell cabbage, to continue it to water his tomato plots)

And that's just the production! The success or failure of a gardening season is observed more in the sale. We need to find a buyer for its products, the distance from major roads often making the process very complicated. The pressing need for money producers make the organization more difficult, each trying to sell as quickly as possible. If all goes well, the good gardener can get out of this three months of work with $ 200 in his pocket. It may if wells or reservoirs have dried up, repeated the exercise again.

(we are prepared to sell onions)

the game worth the candle by cons. The revenue generated allows the family to send children to school, pay medical expenses, clothing and even open an account at a Savings and Credit. They allow men to stay in the village instead of going to "hunt" for gold or work in town. Women can also practice this income generating activity, allowing it to participate in family expenses and increase its status. The producer group around a site also increases social cohesion and knowledge sharing. In the case of the Management Council that we, the producers also come to occupy leadership positions in their community, since they have acquired the skills of managers on their farms. They can become treasurer of a group, president of a youth association, responsible for credit and collections. Listen to two producers:

"The Management Council has solved all my problems. Before I get into an activity, I estimate in advance what she will bring, so now I see that my budget has increased and I'm good to feed my family. I was able to enroll two children because I understood the importance of school. My whole family is doing well. I could buy a cart. "

For another, the impact is different: "Before I joined (the Council of Management) I was running hurt my attic so often famine struck my family. Now we eat very well all year. And with the money I earn more, I can educate my children and to ensure the health of the family that falls from less ill. I could marry a new wife. "

activity of gardening is an activity that development in Burkina, but not without difficulty. The control of water, lack of equipment, plant diseases and especially the development of markets for the sale are constraints of society and the various development projects trying to raise, with the help of producers and their associations .

The power of images

----------

First really thank you for your comments. Every comment I "boost" for the day, I will not lie! Know that it is read vrailent important et très touchant!

In Canada, we see too many images of violence and famine from Africa, forgetting that there are small positive revolutions, which occur every day, and are advance society and the people who live there. We hear about corrupt African governments, while we forget that Ghana is an example of democracy for all countries of the world, including developed countries. We forget the corruption rampant in our own country. We hear about the diamond wars, while they are goods consumed almost entirely in rich countries. Beautiful irony! It

One could almost believe in a deserted village! Here is another photo taken within 100 meters of that location:

is the same village! In it we see all the fuss. The drill allows many women to tap water for food. It seems to be a social dynamic that had rolled through the drill! Of cattle come to drink and guinea fowl running around. Do we eat good grilled guinea fowl supper !!!??? The woven straw

behind drilling shows economic activity. It manufactures these rollers with long grass they sell at the market. Finally, the trees behind us indicate activity agro-forestry. These trees will bear fruit or will be used for medicinal purposes.

Two images from the same village shows us two different realities. I am fortunate to be here in Burkina, to present, in my very limited view of things, the reality I perceive. This reality is changed by my culture, my values, my preconceptions, my mood that day, my motivational state and the people around me. I believe that this reality by cons that I present in my blog is also transformed by some even more important: the face that I want to present MOI of Africa, or at least the northern region of Burkina Faso!

is for me to evaluate what is my responsibility as time development worker in the way that I present the Africa. It's my choice.

In the end, which of these photos will I choose to introduce you to Africa? The first two or last?

Do I Have Herpes Or Acne?

Leaving the cyber ...

It's really weird sometimes. Two to three times a week I go to cafe. I download documents to work, if I look Engineers Without Borders does not send me something. When I did that, I go, I escape. I'll see if my parents do not send me their message, always diligent. I check if one of my friends do not tell me what is happening in Montreal. I communicate with my brother, I also asked at what is happening ... I read the news, the situation of the Parti Québécois, road accidents, the U.S. election and still a bit of blog Patrick Lagacé on cyberpresse. In short, I am absorbed by a world francophone Quebecois, people who are close to me. When the hour ends, I still have all the information in my head. I have not yet dropped out of this world, my head is attached to a port on the shore of St. Lawrence.

I leave the cyber-conditioned and each time I shock is inevitable. 10 degrees and more young people carrying casks of 200 liters of water on carts, the women cooking on the side streets, the sandy road, in short, the city where I live. Today, I was still in Canada when a group of 5 children came up, greeted me and asked me literally money. It does not happen that often but it's always a good slap su'a Yeul to remember where I am. I really do not like when these things happen to me but it's inevitable. I try to be empathetic, but it's not easy when you're exposed to requests like this every day. I try as best I can to show by my actions that day is not cashmachine and you do not (all) so much money when it comes here.

Remaining one year here, one can rub shoulders and learn to know people very well. After having coffee and donuts fried in the same place for a month, you get to know people and also learn to know yourself. It takes time, that's all, and not rush things ... Slowly!

Where To Buy A Car Starter In Syracuse

A holiday a bit special ...

It's been almost five months now that I'm in West Africa and it is always a great pleasure to share my adventures. This week, to last a little longer the spirit of the holidays, I describe the Christmas I have spent here in Burkina Faso.

It is 35 degree Celsius under a strong sun Sahel. The landscape that awaits me is a plain dotted with shrubs, long grass withered, one or two trees on the horizon and a baobab tree, this majestic tree standing like a king in this reddish earth. We head to Hitt, the village where I would have the chance to spend three days, including Christmas Eve. He is 13h and I'm hot, very hot! Two questions keep my mind busy: How do I find the words to tell my loved ones currently in Canada and most importantly, was it really a good idea to travel 70km by bicycle on a sandy road in two days with this heat and a headwind!?

Let's go back. Here, the holidays are really starting December 19. And no, it's not because this is when people rush to browse the malls to buy presents for their loved ones! Indeed, in a city where more than 80% of the population is Muslim, we all celebrate Tabaski, also called the Feast of Sacrifice. This day, all families can afford kill a sheep in remembrance of the ram to Abraham sent the angel Gabriel. A large gathering was first place on the Place de la Nation, where a crowd congregating for a group prayer at 9:00.

It's really impressive! During the day, whether Catholic or Muslim, families visit them, sit down to eat and talk. We exchanged rice dishes, pasta, couscous, chicken and mutton of course! From family to family, my stomach fills gradually. After the 6th meal, you will understand that I needed a break! After

Tabaski, Christmas is fast approaching. A friend and I decided to go to the brother the latter, living in a village 70km Ouahigouya, the town where I live. In cycling, we are moving slowly but surely, the paths of earth and wind slowing somewhat the momentum. Once there, the family welcomed us warmly welcome with water and a dish of te. It's Christmas Eve, darkness falls, so we are quickly bringing the pig and sheep in the pen. Since there is no electricity, we use our battery lamps to light us. An hour later, after the slaughter and emptying and cleaning of our future feast, we begin to cut different parts into smaller pieces for the dish the next day. I'm exhausted. The bike ride of the day like me somewhat heated mind, a glass of dolo (local beer made with grain sorghum) is enough to send me to bed.

The next morning, the traditional Mass of Christmas. All Catholics of the village gather together and chants, homily and the final dance to the sound of drums! Bedazzled!

The day continues with lunch prepared by women in the morning, followed by the visit of the different families located Loans from us. The village is very large, it is difficult to see everyone. The afternoon, takes place at the heart of the village activities attracting mostly young people. Thanks to the square dance, and I have done a good laugh over 100 young Burkinabe! With an air of confidence, I get along with others in the arena and the sound of reggae music, I put the package before the crowd perplexed. It's not every day that White has danced on Christmas Day! A little later, others are dragging prices and sell only items found in cities such as candy, shoes, cigarettes, soaps, toys, clothing, soft drinks and alcoholic. Finally, several games allow anyone who wants to exercise his address.

Again exhausted, I go to bed at night and letting my friend take the dolo discuss with his friends. Before falling asleep on the mat, rug for my mattress, I thought for my family and friends, which I am separated for this unique moment of the year. Looking back, I see the sky and tell myself that at least, perhaps I shall never an opportunity to spend Christmas in so many stars!

The next day, we are on the way home, still cycling, but with bags of peanuts and a rooster too!

It's tradition, no matter where it comes from, if a foreigner visits the village of Hitt, it starts with a chicken. I take this walk to think again about how I can tell this story. I think what surprised me that made me laugh and cry. I come to the conclusion that Christmas is for everyone an opportunity to meet, eat, tell stories, laugh and share moments of happiness, regardless of where they comes. Only how to express it slightly different. Unlike here, where the highlight of the evening is the exchange of gifts, here is the mass ... And you can enjoy a good piece of meat!

Ned Tabo! (Happy Holidays!)
